I was hired by sculptor CAROLYN MORTON to 3D model an exact replica of a fire helmet that could be scaled up and 3D printed becoming part of the form for a large bronze memorial statue in Portugal.
To achieve this, I took a set of photos and developed 2D orthographic drawings, which I then converted into a 3D shape. Employing parametric modelLing and iterating through multiple prototypes ensured that my final design closely resembled life.
The final print was divided into four sections, assembled at the end, with a total print time exceeding 100 hours.
