The client provided a clear vision, specifying the desired shade to encase the light, electronic components, and examples of similar products with the aesthetic they wanted to achieve.
The design required minimising exposed parts outside the shade, creating a main chassis to house four PCBs and A heat sink. Special attention was given to channeling airflow effectively across components, ensuring adequate cooling and minimising airflow resistance.
Additional features included top and bottom vents, fan housing and custom spring loaded button. The product also needed to be fully 3D printable, utilising specific geometries and printing techniques to meet performance and durability standards.
I set up a shared workspace using Miro online whiteboards to organise and present our work, using it as a base to host multiple collaborative design sessions. we completed thorough analysis and reviews of each prototyping stage before advancing the concept further.
We went through 5 iterations of the design, with The current fully functional prototype now undergoing small-batch production and consumer testing.
